10 years ago I co-founded GoodUnited with my friend, Nick Black. In that time we've made every mistake in the book.
...we launched products that nobody needed
...we hired junior people and gave them big titles
...we made product decisions without consulting our users
Failure was our biggest teacher.
But we did get one thing right...
We picked a problem and an industry that we care deeply about and never strayed from our mission:
To empower nonprofits to have a 1:1 relationship with every supporter
Eventually we found product/market fit and have since helped the world’s largest and most impactful nonprofits raise over $1B in social networks.
In 2022 GoodUnited secured No. 460 on the 2022 Inc. 5000 annual list and in 2023 I became a finalist for the Ernst and Young Southeast Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Outside of GoodUnited, I founded Startup Grind Charleston as a passion project to build a startup community where I live in Charleston, SC. Every quarter I host fireside chat events that brings together local startups, founders, innovators, and creators to learn from and help one another.
I love getting into the weeds to help nonprofits increase revenue through social media and to encourage people who want to start companies take their first step.
